MHI – Q: Does Medicare cover screenings for heart disease?

Posted by MedEd at MHI
A: That’s a timely question - February is American Heart Month. And it’s an important question since heart disease is the leading cause of death in this country. The answer is yes, Medicare does offer cardiovascular screenings. Take advantage of screening blood tests for cholesterol, lipid and triglyceride levels every five years. Covered by Part B, these screenings are available to you at no charge if your doctor accepts assignment.
